Captain Red wants the mission to continue. Could the next person to carry the 2026 Great Loop Challenge powered by Honda Marine baton already be on the water?
Eventually, Captain Red and the 2026 Great Loop Challenge powered by Honda Marine crew will return to where their journey began.
But Chris from the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation hopes something continues long after the engines stop.
During our conversation on The Next Boat Journey, he talked about what success really looks like for the 2026 Great Loop Challenge powered by Honda Marine.
Yes, raising money matters. So does completing an extraordinary boating challenge
But there is another goal: creating something that can continue
Captain Red has already completed the Great Loop once for pediatric cancer research. The 2026 Great Loop Challenge powered by Honda Marine is building on that effort.
The bigger opportunity may be what happens next.
Could another boater take on the challenge?
Could another marine company create its own way to support pediatric cancer research?
Could marinas, manufacturers, dealers and boating organizations continue telling the story throughout the year?
Chris described Captain Red’s vision as passing the baton.
That idea may be the most powerful part of the entire journey.
The boating community is filled with people who use their boats for fishing, cruising, racing, exploring and spending time with family and friends.
What if some of those adventures also became opportunities to help others?
It does not have to mean attempting 6,000 miles around the Great Loop.
It could mean sharing the 2026 Great Loop Challenge powered by Honda Marine story.
It could mean donating.
It could mean introducing the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation to another company or organization.
Or it could mean creating an entirely new idea nobody has thought of yet.
Captain Red started with something he already knew and loved: boating.
Then he found a way to use it for something bigger.
The next person who carries that mission forward may already be somewhere out on the water.
